It is VERY IMPORTANT to do PostgreSQL backups, so you don't lose your data, or so you can go back to an earlier point in time if ever necessary.

It is also important to test to make sure you *can* successfully restore and use the data.
(Let me know on the mailing list if someone wants the script for how I currently do it on my computer: it runs as root under bash.
